In order to overcome these barriers, agricultural products must meet and comply with regulations on food hygiene and safety from farming to processing. Therefore, the construction for a common standards for fish farming tra and basa in the Mekong Delta is an urgent requirement.
SQF 1000 2000CM (Safe Quality Food) was first carried out in Australia, owned and operated in 2000 by Food Marketing Institute of US (FMI). SQF standards meet the strict hygeine criteria of US and other food standards. SQF 1000CM has begun to be applied in Pangasius farming in An Giang since 2004 and currently are being applied currently in many regions.
Currently, Tien Giang Province are assisting Pangasius farmers SQF 1000CM-standard in the area of 18ha of dunes Stock Calendar both Hung and Hoa Khanh Hoa (Cai Be district). Farmers participating in the program will be certified SQF 1000CM.
According to experts in the field of export of aquatic products, certificates of SQF 1000CM bring the fish many advantages to overcome the technical barriers of import markets, improving competitiveness and increasing exports. SQF 1000CM catfish products meet the requirements of food hygiene and safety, particularly the traceability of origin, strict control and preventive procedures to overcome the hazards in the production process.
